Cost factors

What determines fulfillment costs?

A reliable cost calculation goes beyond shipping costs alone. Fulfillment costs arise throughout the entire journey of your goods, from arrival at the warehouse to returns.

These eight factors are included in every calculation:

1

Goods receipt:
Your goods are counted, inspected and booked into inventory. The delivery format and quantity determine the workload.

2

Average inventory:
What matters is the average quantity of goods stored with us and how much warehouse space they require.

3

Number of orders:
Every order goes through order processing, picking, packing and handover to the carrier. More orders mean more processing cycles, even if the total number of items remains the same.

4

Picks per order:
An order containing a single item requires fewer handling steps than one with multiple items. That is why the average number of picks is one of the most important factors. Our fulfillment glossary explains what a pick is.

5

Packaging materials:
Boxes, filling materials and inserts depend on the size and weight of your products and your specific requirements. Customised packaging is calculated differently from standard boxes.

6

Shipping destinations:
Domestic, European or worldwide. The destination country, shipping method and carrier all affect shipping costs.

7

Return rate:
Returns are received and inspected according to agreed procedures. The higher the return rate, the more work is involved.

8

Additional services:
Kitting, labelling, inserts and individual quality checks all involve additional work steps. Find out more on our page Packaging and Bundling.

How does the pricing model work?

A GOOD-STOCK fulfillment quote follows the journey of your goods. Goods receipt, storage, order processing with picking and packing, packaging, shipping, returns and additional services are assessed individually and combined into a transparent calculation. This shows you how each step contributes to the total cost.We deliberately do not list fixed prices on this page. Costs depend on your specific requirements and can only be accurately calculated based on your figures. GOOD-STOCK is generally a good fit for businesses shipping at least 500 orders per month, or at least 6,000 shipments per year for seasonal business models.

Why is there no fixed fulfillment price list?

Two businesses with the same number of shipments can have very different cost structures. An order containing a single standard product requires a different calculation than a bundle with multiple components, customised packaging and international shipping. That is why GOOD-STOCK takes a holistic look at your setup and discusses the pricing structure with you transparently.
