"Many fulfillment problems don't arise in the warehouse, but in communication."

A conversation with Steven Hobiger, Head of Customer Service & Administration at GOOD-STOCK, about operational responsibility, close collaboration, and the reality behind reliable fulfillment.

How long have you been with GOOD-STOCK, and what is your role at the company?

I have been with GOOD-STOCK for 14 years and am responsible for customer service and administration.

My focus is particularly on supporting our key accounts, leading the team, and managing billing processes. Through close collaboration with various departments, I’ve gained a very comprehensive understanding of operational processes and interdependencies within logistics.

Especially in fulfillment, it’s important not to view processes in isolation, but to always consider their impact on customers, warehouses, and workflows within the broader context.

What sets your approach to work apart?

Above all, it’s my comprehensive view of processes, dependencies, and interrelationships.

In day-to-day operations, it’s often about finding solutions quickly, setting the right priorities, and maintaining a clear overview at the same time. It helps immensely to have a holistic understanding of workflows and to collaborate closely with the various teams.

Personally, I also place great importance on communicating openly, honestly, and directly with clients and colleagues. Many challenges can be resolved much more quickly when everyone involved works closely together.

"Customers expect partners who are accessible, proactive, and transparent in their communication."

What matters most to customers when interacting with GOOD-STOCK today?

Above all, many customers want reliability, quick responsiveness, and a personal point of contact.

In e-commerce in particular, new requirements, last-minute changes, or individual requests arise every day. That’s why customers today don’t expect a “black box”—they expect a partner who is accessible, thinks proactively, and communicates transparently.

Our ticket system also plays an important role in this. It allows us to coordinate requests directly with the relevant departments and develop solutions very quickly. If something turns out to be unfeasible, we communicate this openly and honestly—though this happens extremely rarely.

What makes GOOD-STOCK stand out compared to other fulfillment providers?

Definitely the operational proximity and close collaboration between the individual departments.

At GOOD-STOCK, customer service, warehousing, and operations teams work very closely together. This often allows for coordination, special promotions, or last-minute requests to be implemented quickly and easily without negatively impacting day-to-day operations.

In addition:

  • personal points of contact

  • modern infrastructure such as AutoStore

  • integrated processes

  • high scalability

  • direct communication

  • A pragmatic approach to challenges

It is precisely this combination of people and technology that makes all the difference for many customers.

"We're not just a small team—we're a squad."

What makes GOOD-STOCK special to you personally?

For me, it’s above all the team spirit.

GOOD-STOCK isn’t just a small team—it’s a group that has been tackling challenges together for many years and gives it their all every day to ensure that processes run smoothly and customers can rely on us.

Despite the fast-paced environment and constant changes, many colleagues have stuck together for years—and that’s exactly what makes working here so special.

You can really feel in our day-to-day work that many people here take on responsibility together and support one another.

And in your personal life—what are you passionate about outside of work?

In my free time, I’m a passionate collector of trading cards and I love strategy, building, and business simulation games.

What fascinates me most is the interplay of many factors, strategic thinking, and the dynamics of complex systems. Perhaps these are exactly the things that excite me about the day-to-day work in fulfillment.

After all, here, too, it’s often about understanding how things are connected, reacting flexibly, and working together to find the best solution.
